It has been a long time since I have written anything on the blog. Most of the time I have something funny to write about nearly every other day. Things in daily life seem to happen in a way that sparks my interest in musing about them on this blog.
I seem to be experiencing a drought.
It's not that things aren't happening. Actually, quite the contrary to that. I have been so busy with events of the Summer and new activities at work that I should have plenty to write about, but my creative factories seem to be on strike. I will attempt to provide some update through the summary of three categories: Work, Life and Fun.
Work:
Work lately has been quite exciting. We are preparing our rollout of a document portal powered by Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The capabilities of this system are remarkable. I am the lead developer for the project and have been engrossed in the process of porting existing web applications into SPS 2003 Web Parts. I have also been writing and modifying Code Access Security Policies to ensure that the portal runs with the best stability that we can offer. This project has been a shot in the arm for me. It's a slightly different paradigm of development than that of my typical projects. I also have some training coming up in mid-September. I will be upgrading my certifications to .NET 2.0 starting this fall. I am very excited about that.
Life:
Life seems to be moving along as usual. I haven't had any moments of enlightenment or anything of the like. In all honesty, life lately has been pretty damn good. I'm enjoying myself more at work than I have for a while. It seems that I always have something going on, whether it be hanging out with Perzo and Lisa for dinner or going out with the guys on weeknights. I'm not home all that much so even if things were rough, I wouldn't have time to think about them anyhow! I've vacationed this Summer for some much needed relief from everyday life, and that really seems to be what sparked all of this.
Fun:
I feel I can keep this section brief simply because I can't describe everything. This Summer I have seen concerts, weddings, lakes, mountains and a lot of friends. It's really great how enriching all of that can be. I've got a bachelor party for my old roommate in a week at Putin Bay, Ohio on Lake Erie. I'm going to Chicago in September to catch a Dave Matthews concert with Johanna and a few friends. I've already seen Dave once this summer and I can't wait to see him again. I'm also catching a Saturday afternoon Cubs game while I am in town.
Life is good, and for the first time in quite a while; I have very few complaints.
